Physical and Chemical Properties:
Solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol and ether. The PH value solubled in 5% aqueous solution is about 5.0~8.0.
There are two forms of this product (depending on the iron content): when the iron content is 14.5% to 16.0%, it is green; when the iron content is 16.5% to 18.5%, it is brown. Both are complex salts composed of iron, ammonium and citric acid. Both are prone to deliquescence and mildew.
Product Usage
1. Nutritional supplements (iron fortifiers). Used in dairy products, wheat flour for bread, and added to biscuits, milk powder, etc., not suitable for foods that are not suitable for coloring. As a food iron fortifier, ferric ammonium citrate has a better absorption effect than inorganic iron.
2. Used in the photographic industry and pharmaceutical industry, and can also be used as an anti-caking agent.
3. For microbial culture, such as the JFM medium commonly used in the laboratory culture of manganese ferrophilic bacteria, where ferric ammonium citrate should be added.
